Baseboard, trim and finish carpentry in Payson

Trim is the last thing that goes on and the first thing anybody notices. Gaps at the miters, a baseboard that follows every dip in the floor, casing that does not line up with the next door down the hall — that is what people see when they walk in. We scribe the cut to the wall rather than filling the gap with caulk and trusting the paint to hide it.

A staircase refinished with white painted risers and skirt against new oak treads, winding up past the original oak spindles and handrail, with a paint tray and used masking tape still on the floor at the bottom.

What’s included in baseboard, trim and finish carpentry?

  • Baseboard, door and window casing, chair rail and crown
  • Profiles matched to the trim already in the house, or a new one throughout
  • Interior doors hung, shimmed and adjusted so they stay shut
  • Closet systems, shelving, window seats and simple built-ins
  • Stair skirt, treads and handrail work
  • Filled, caulked and sanded, ready for paint or painted by us

Trim is measured, cut and fitted on site, so the pace is set by how many corners and returns the house has rather than by its square footage. It is the last trade in, and it is the one worth not rushing.

Trim is a saw in the driveway and a nailer in the house. Loud in bursts rather than all day, and the house stays liveable throughout.

Trim questions

Questions homeowners ask before they call.

What does new baseboard and trim cost?

It depends on the profile and on how much of the house you are doing. Taller baseboard and anything with a return on it costs more to cut and more to install, and a house with a lot of corners costs more than its square footage suggests. The written quote separates material from labor so you can see exactly where the money goes.

Can you match the trim in the rest of my house?

Usually. Most profiles sold in the last thirty years are still available or close enough that nobody will pick the difference once it is painted. If yours is genuinely obsolete we will say so and give you the two honest options: replace the run, or accept a near match in the new room.

Do you paint the trim as well?

Yes, and it is the better way to do it. Trim that is filled, caulked and painted by the same crew that installed it comes out cleaner than trim handed off to someone else two weeks later. It is priced as a line on the same quote.
